Four boys need help for surgery

GEORGE TOWN - Four children are in urgent need of medical treatment to lead a normal life and their families have appealed for help to pay for the surgeries.

Three-year-old Maxon Hoe Min Yi has a severe disease of the intestines, called Hirschsprung, since birth and was admitted recently for a rectal biopsy which confirmed it.

He requires a major reconstructive procedure.

The entire cost in both cases is in the region of RM25,000 (S$9,778.50).

His father, Hoe Wei Lun, 29, is a salesman and earns around RM2,000 a month while his mother, Nan Kyan, from Myanmar, is a housewife.

Meanwhile, 21/2-year-old Khairi Alif Abu Hassan suffers from a complex congenital heart disease.

The fifth child in a family of six siblings needs to undergo surgery which is expected to cost about RM45,000.

His mother, Kama Aziroh Kamarulzaman, 38, is a single parent who earns RM100 monthly doing odd jobs.

Twenty-day-old Muhammad Firas Wais Muazim Mohd Pauzai has a complex congenital heart disease.

Born prematurely, he currently weighs 1.6kg. He requires multiple operations which would cost about RM30,000.

His father, Mohd Pauzai Yahaya, 38, is an assistant machinist in Tasek Glugor, earning RM930 a month while his mother, Ramlah Man, 39, is a housewife.

The couple also have a daughter.

Five-month-old Adiruth Ai Khim, a Malaysian of Thai descent, has a congestive heart defect that requires an operation.

The estimated cost, inclusive of pre-operative stay, is about RM40,000.

His father, Ai Khim Ai Tim, 30, is a rubber tapper earning RM600 a month, while his mother, Kanya Anant, 28, is a housewife. The family lives in Sik, Kedah.
